There's something to the 'spare the rod, spoil the child' saying. It is derived from Proverbs 13:24, and when observed when it's manifested, the child becomes an a-hole and lacks respect.

I saw an incident today. Without knowing the history, I can only imagine how home life may be. Illustration of public display left me cringing. 😬
